They have been popular for years and are the first choice of many managers, public institutions and companies. However, there is currently a whole range of concrete bins on the market – so how to choose the best model? In this article, we will look at the key features of these classic containers and give you some tips on what parameters to pay particular attention to before purchasing.

Concrete trash bins – a universal solution for public spaces

Due to their aesthetic, minimalist design and durability, they fit practically everywhere. They are especially useful where a discreet, but convenient and spacious trash bin for mixed municipal waste is needed. They will therefore pass the test: in parks, on squares, on any other green and recreational areas; on the premises of educational institutions, offices, clinics, all public facilities.

Concrete trash bin – what distinguishes it?

At least 4 arguments speak in favor of choosing a free-standing concrete trash bin.

1. Durability of the concrete bin

The bin owes its extraordinary solidity to the properties of concrete. High-quality concrete is a material highly resistant to pressure and mechanical damage (abrasion, scratches, cracks). This durability is guaranteed by the presence of cement and aggregate in the concrete. Concrete bins are also resistant to the harmful effects of weather conditions (the appropriately porous structure of concrete allows it to withstand low temperatures well). Let's not forget that the concrete bin itself is massive and heavy (reinforcing steel is used in production), and such a construction is a guarantee of resistance to acts of vandalism.

Taking into account all these features, concrete trash bins will work perfectly in all places with high traffic intensity.

2. Stability of the concrete bin

Depending on the ground, a concrete waste bin can be installed in two ways:

  • using an expansion wheel or anchor, if the container stands on a hard surface (e.g. asphalt, paving stone),
  • using a concrete foundation, if it stands on a soft surface (e.g. on green areas, along park alleys).

3. Concrete waste bin – convenience and safety

All free-standing concrete bins have a large throw-in hole. This greatly facilitates their use in crowded places. In addition, the inserts for concrete bins are very easy to empty. Therefore, the operation of this type of bins is convenient for both users and cleaning company employees.

Even concrete bins with a roof are as easy to use as open models. Roofs can be easily tilted or – in the case of domes – quickly opened with an Allen key.

It is worth knowing that the concrete bins from our offer meet a number of standards, e.g. PN-B-06265:2018-10/Ap1:2019-05, PN-EN 1176-1:2017-12, PN-EN 13198:2005.

4. Aesthetic values and organic design of the concrete trash bin

The concrete bin stands out with its interesting, organic pattern. We are not limited to one motif. We can order a bin with e.g. black and white gravel, granite gravel, syenite, river stone, dyed river stone. Many models have decorative, modernist grooves or wooden inserts. We will certainly match our free-standing bin to the surroundings. Metal inserts can also be painted.

How to choose a concrete bin? The most important criteria according to ECO24 experts

To facilitate the choice, we have distinguished 6 criteria that are worth considering before purchasing a concrete trash bin.

a) Capacity: all models are spacious, but we are not limited to one size. We offer 26-liter models (e.g. round concrete bin Aleksander 26 L), 40-liter (e.g. square concrete bin Iza 40 L) and the largest, 70-liter (e.g. 70 L Iryda concrete bin).

b) Material: in addition to the previously mentioned color versions, modern models made of smooth, light architectural concrete are also available (e.g. concrete trash bin Romka 40 L)

c) Shape of the base: square (e.g. 70 L Adam concrete bin ), oval (e.g. round concrete bin Eliza 40 L), hexagonal (e.g. concrete waste bin Flora 40 L).

d) Interior: concrete bins can have a galvanized steel insert or alternatively, instead of an insert, only a ring for a bag can be installed. Optionally, a concrete bin can be equipped with a metal insert with a practical, durable ashtray (as in the model square concrete bin Mira 40 L).

e) Presence of a roof: using a concrete bin with a roof is as convenient as in the case of standard models. The light roof freely tilts during emptying of the container. In the model with a decorative belt both the roof and the belt can be painted any color. Alternatively, you can choose a more enclosed model with a dome roof 40 L with two wide throw-in holes.

f) Decorative elements: in addition to copper or colorful, metal belts, concrete bins can be varied with wooden inserts. Such a less raw and elegant design is distinguished by e.g. concrete-wooden bin for municipal waste Alex 40 L. We can choose the color of wooden elements at our discretion.

Inserts for concrete bins – what are the differences?

Concrete bins can serve for many years, as you can always replace the inserts for a refresh. All are made of laser-fired sheet metal (thickness 0.5–1 mm) galvanized by fire.

In addition, on request, the inserts can be powder coated – covering with a special paint protects them from corrosion, and at the same time allows you to match the color of the interior to the concrete cover.

There is also the possibility of equipping a concrete bin with a metal insert with a convenient galvanized steel ashtray.

Thanks to the proven manufacturing technology, our inserts for street bins are:

  • resistant to dents,
  • resistant to the harmful effects of weather conditions,
  • perfectly matched to concrete bins – each model of the insert is available in several capacities; in addition, inserts for the most popular round concrete bins as well as for bins with other bases are available in the offer.
  • hygienic and easy to use for cleaning company employees.

We offer:

  1. straight round metal inserts (from 30 to 65 L)
  2. conical round metal inserts (from 30 to 110 L)
  3. conical square metal inserts (from 35 to 90 L).
