Collecting and transporting a large amount of waste is a significant logistical challenge. KP containers are battle-tested solutions. What makes them stand out? When should you consider buying them? What construction elements should you pay attention to?

KP Containers – what are they?

They are very durable, spacious containers designed for storing and transporting practically all municipal and industrial waste, including oversized, liquid or bulk.

KP containers are built from welded steel sheet. The structure is additionally reinforced by closed profiles and cold-bent channels. Before applying paint, the containers are subjected to shot blasting. The process involves cleaning steel surfaces using so-called abrasives, i.e. materials with very high abrasive properties. What does this treatment give? Thanks to such prepared steel, subsequent protective coatings show much better adhesion. Shot blasting also strengthens the steel itself.

Finally, KP containers are covered with primer paints protecting the entire structure against corrosion and mechanical damage. The customer can choose any color from the RAL palette and ask for the placement of selected informational inscriptions.

Professional KP containers are adapted for hook and/or gate devices.

Garbage containers of the KP type – get to know different models

We distinguish two basic types of KP containers:

  • open: recommended for storing industrial waste, scrap, furniture, renovation and construction waste. They can have an asymmetric or symmetric construction. Some models can be stacked one on top of the other;
  • covered: the containers are closed with a flap or covered with a tarpaulin. They pass the test when we store dusting waste, those that need to be protected from the effects of weather conditions (e.g. materials intended for reuse) and flammable waste.

In terms of the way of loading onto the trailer, we distinguish:

  • hook containers,
  • gate containers,
  • hook-and-gate containers.

We write more about the characteristics of loads later in the article.

However, containers differ primarily in capacity. This parameter is indicated by the number after the letters "KP", i.e. for example, a KP 5 container means that it has a capacity of 5 m3, KP 7 – 7 m3 etc.
In our offer, we have four most universal and popular types of KP containers.

A) KP 7 closed and open

  • dimensions of the closed container [length x width x height]: 3.5 m x 1.73 m x 1.46 m,
  • dimensions of the open container [length x width x height]: 3.5 m x 1.7 m x 1.15 m,
  • capacity 7 m3,
  • adapted for hook devices (hook height 1200 mm) and gate devices (containers are in accordance with DIN 30720 standard),
  • also available in versions only for hook trucks or only for gate trucks,
  • used in selective waste collection points, construction and production companies, municipal offices, cemeteries, at sewage treatment plants,
  • possibility of adjusting dimensions (including sheet thickness) to individual requirements,
  • KP 7 can be closed with a top-hinged flap or tarpaulin,
  • both containers can be equipped with doors opening downwards or to the side,
  • more information about KP 7 closed and about KP 7 open.

B) Container KP 5

  • practical open container for rubble, oversized or municipal waste,
  • dimensions [length x width x height]: 3.44 m x 1.74 m x 1.22 m,
  • capacity 5 m3,
  • works with hook and gate trucks,
  • can be equipped with additional doors on request,
  • there is an option to add a rolled-up tarpaulin,
  • option to customize dimensions,
  • more about the KP 5 container

C) Container KP 18

  • spacious, durable open roll-off container,
  • intended for storing and transporting municipal, oversized, industrial and construction waste,
  • dimensions [length x width x height]: 4 m x 2.4 m x 1.9 m,
  • capacity 18 m3,
  • intended for gate vehicles,
  • equipped with rear doors – opening downwards, to the side, or hinged upwards,
  • there is an option to customize dimensions and add a rolled-up tarpaulin,
  • more about the KP 18 model

How to load a KP container? Hook and gate systems

Trucks intended for loading KP containers are called hook and gate trucks.

Hook trucks

The truck is equipped with a special hook device. The main element of the lift is a tilting arm topped with a hook. The hook hooks onto the container handle and pulls the container onto the platform. Hook trucks work with containers compliant with DIN 30722 standard with a capacity from 10 to 34 m3 and with KP containers with a capacity from 5 to 10 m3. Most hook trucks can easily handle containers weighing up to 30 tons. The hook system assumes tilting the container during loading onto the trailer, so it will not work in all situations. An alternative is the gate system.

Gate trucks

These vehicles are equipped with gate devices, which lift containers in a horizontal position. The container is attached on both sides with chains and lifted onto the platform. Gate trucks can handle exactly the same containers as hook trucks. However, this loading method is usually used for containers with a capacity up to 20m3 – larger containers are rather transported by hook trucks.

The advantage of gate loading is that containers do not have to be closed to safely introduce them onto the trailer. The disadvantage, however, is that the machine will not lift containers that have additional devices mounted on the side walls.

Pay attention to what loading the container you have chosen is adapted for. However, most containers from our offer are universal – they have appropriate handles on all walls to work with hook and gate devices.

Waste containers – application

The versatility of KP containers makes them an indispensable (and practical) solution for, among others:

  • selective waste collection points,
  • renovation and construction companies,
  • cemeteries,
  • farms,
  • slaughterhouses,
  • sewage treatment plants,
  • landfills,
  • all institutions and companies that collect large amounts of industrial, oversized, municipal waste, etc.

KP Containers – customization in Eco 24

The containers can be adapted to the requirements of your company or institution. You have the following options:

  • change of standard dimensions (length, height, width, sheet thickness),
  • making a container from so-called super steel, i.e. high-grade steel (Hradox, Domex, RAEX),
  • sealing the container with a continuous weld,
  • adding doors opening downwards or to the side,
  • adding hooks for the tarpaulin,
  • painting in any color from the RAL palette.
