In addition to road salt for road maintenance, magnesium chloride is also used. This compound very quickly removes icing and is extremely efficient. To clear the same area, ten times less magnesium chloride is needed than road salt. Chloride melts snow and ice by releasing heat (1960 kcal / kg), which is generated when absorbing moisture. Its action can be observed at a temperature even -50^oC, while road salt loses its properties at temperatures a few degrees below zero. Magnesium chloride permanently fills the cracks into which the water from the melted snow and ice seeps. A big advantage is that chloride does not cause corrosion of metals or damage to surfaces, as is the case with the use of road salt. After spreading, this compound remains active for many days.

Magnesium chloride has a beneficial effect on the vegetation surrounding the roads, as it fertilizes the soil. It is not toxic and does not bioaccumulate. It also does not have a harmful effect on human or animal organisms. The preparation can be spread directly on the icy surface with a shovel or hand, dressed in a protective glove. Chloride also does not leave traces on shoes or paving stones. The preparation is available in the form of flakes, which dissolve well in water. It is perfect for roads, parking lots, sidewalks, driveways, etc.
